A professional sports doctor revealed Leon Draisaitl's injury fate after the Oilers' superstar had to leave last night's game against the San Jose Sharks.
The Edmonton Oilers haven't clinched their playoff ticket yet, and all games matter until they do. Last night, they battled against the San Jose Sharks, one of the worst teams in the League, and earned two important points in a 3-2 win.
Unfortunately for the Oilers, they had to watch their superstar Leon Draisaitl walk down the tunnel with an apparent injury.
Shortly after registering an assist in the game, Draisaitl was injured and had to leave the game after only 10 minutes of ice time.
Check out how it went down:
After the game, comments made by Oilers players and the head coach suggest that the team will continue despite all the injuries currently striking the team.
Head coach Kris Knoblauch started by saying he had no updates on Draisaitl's health and added that hopefully, other guys will step up during his recovery:
"No, I don't (have an update). I haven't seen our training staff yet. You never want to miss those guys. You never want your top players not to play because every time they're not in, it decreases your chances of winning because they are good players. What happens is other guys have some opportunities to play, get some confidence, hopefully score some goals, because we're going to need them."
"Obviously, we've had some injuries to key guys. It's a lot of opportunity for other guys to step up, and I think guys have done a good job so far. We're going to have to continue that and keep working together to get the results we want." - Jeff Skinner
"Sometimes when guys go down, other guys got to step up. With playoffs coming up, it's good for guys to get some extra minutes and some reps. Who knows, maybe it's a good thing as long as those guys are OK, which I'm sure they are." - Connor Brown
In breaking news, the doctor Harjas Grewal, who often shares his views on NHL injuries, revealed that Draisaitl is likely suffering from a groin strain:
Details and updates will follow.
