Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has to make some big decisions involving his lineup, and on Thursday, he made an announcement involving Matias Maccelli.

Matias Maccelli has not played an NHL game since November 28th, as head coach Craig Berube has kept him as a healthy scratch.
Berube hasn't loved Maccelli's defensive game, and there have been times when his production simply hasn't matched up with his talent.
With nine points in 22 games, Maccelli can't seem to find a spot in the lineup, and his recent string of scratches is a great example of this.
Having said all that, the Maple Leafs are playing the Washington Capitals tonight, and once again, Maccelli is being left out of the lineup.

Craig Berube on the Matias Maccelli situation

However, it appears as though there is a path for Maccelli to get himself back into the Maple Leafs lineup. This information is coming from Craig Berube himself.
While speaking to the media, the Leafs head coach confirmed that he wants to get Maccelli back into the lineup soon, although he can't confirm when.
This weekend, the Leafs have a back-to-back against the Nashville Predators and the Dallas Stars, which presents a good opportunity for Maccelli.
If Maccelli can't get back into the lineup, then you have to wonder if the team will keep him around or try to trade him before the deadline.
The Leafs are also sitting Calle Jarnkrok tonight, who is yet another Maple Leafs forward who is struggling to crack the lineup consistently.
Tonight's game against the Washington Capitals is an important one, and without Maccelli and Jarnkrok, the Leafs will look to prove themselves as playoff contenders.
