Vancouver Canucks forward David Kampf just earned himself a promotion with the team, and it is a far cry from his situation with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

David Kampf's time with the Toronto Maple Leafs came to an unceremonious end just a couple of weeks ago, as both sides worked towards a contract termination.
The forward was stuck playing with the Toronto Marlies, and it was clear that he was unhappy being relegated to the AHL, when there were plenty of NHL teams that could use him.
However, his contract was unmovable, and a trade was impossible. Once his contract was terminated, the Vancouver Canucks swooped in and signed him to a one-year, $1.1 million deal.
Since then, Kampf has played three games with the Canucks, to varying results. While he hasn't been productive, he has quickly become a valued member of the Canucks roster.

With injuries mounting and the team's situation getting more dire by the day, Kampf has been promoted to second-line center, which is not something we would have expected when the season began.
Unfortunately for Kampf, Canucks fans are not too happy about this. After all, the forward was stuck in AHL purgatory, and now, he is getting a top-six spot on a flailing team.
These attitudes towards Kampf and the Canucks roster just go to show that fans are very frustrated with the situation they have been thrust into.

David Kampf's stats are rough

Last season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Kampf played 59 games and only managed five goals and eight assists for 13 total points.
In four AHL games at the top of the season, he only had one assist. Now, through three Canucks games, he is pointless. Simply put, fans should not expect very much from the forward.
In 539 career NHL games, the forward has a total of 143 points. This is just who he is, and Canucks fans are fooling themselves if they think things will magically change someday.
