Former Maple Leafs player's NHL career is in jeopardy after hitting waivers

A former Toronto Maple Leafs forward has been struggling over the past couple of seasons, and now, his NHL career might be on the ropes.
The NHL is a very tough league, especially when you're not a top-six or middle-six forward. The fourth line guys are often seen as expendable.
When they lose their spot in the lineup, they are left wondering what's next. Sometimes, they are put on waivers and sent to the AHL.
On Friday, the Florida Panthers put forward Noah Gregor on waivers. If you are a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, you remember him from the 2023-24 season.
Noah Gregor hits waivers
Gregor has not been having a good season with the Panthers. He has played in just 24 games so far, and has a total of three points.
Last year, he split time between the San Jose Sharks and Ottawa Senators, but only ended up with seven points, which just isn't good enough.
It was a rough go for the forward, and if he clears waivers, it seems pretty clear that he will be going straight to the AHL.
When you take his production into consideration, it becomes clear that Gregor may not be long for the NHL at this point in time.
Even as a fourth liner, he just isn't giving teams enough to work with, and even with all of their injuries, the Florida Panthers don't have much space for him.
With that in mind, it is going to be interesting to see if Gregor ends up finding a new team this afternoon, or if he is destined for the AHL.
Whatever the case may be, it is never fun to watch a guy go through this kind of thing.
