Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander received a $5000 fine for his gesture towards a TSN camera, and George Parros had a lot to say about it.
William Nylander created a controversy on Sunday when he gave the middle finger to the TSN camera during a game against the Colorado Avalanche.
While some felt like this was a nothingburger, the NHL certainly felt completely different, as Nylander was slapped with a $5000 fine.
Many Leafs fans found this to be overkill, especially when you consider how Nylander wasn't even on the ice for this gesture.
Well, NHL Player Safety already has it out for the Leafs, and the head of the department, George Parros, isn't letting the team off the hook.
George Parros speaks his mind on William Nylander
In a statement to the media, Parros really laced into Nylander, stating that this kind of behavior is unacceptable, and is not going to fly.
The gesture was shown live on-air during the game broadcast. This serves as a reminder the code of conduct governing Players extends throughout the arena at NHL games and in public game situations.
Parros remains someone that Toronto Maple Leafs fans despise with a passion. Ultimately, they feel as though he has a bias against the team.
It's hard to say what is really in Parros' heart, although there is no denying that the Maple Leafs are getting screwed on multiple occasions.
Going forward, the Leafs will just have to be on their best behavior. It is the only way to ensure that they don't get any unjust punishments.
As for Nylander, he will just need to be a lot smarter going forward, which is easier said than done.
