Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving is being pressured into making a trade, and Nick Kypreos has a timeline on when one will get done.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings, and they are in need of a few wins here to get themselves out of the hole.
Thankfully, general manager Brad Treliving is working on trades right now. This has been confirmed by multiple sources, and it just goes to show that the organizational urgency is there.
With that in mind, many around the league have been wondering when deals will start getting made, and this extends beyond just the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Sure, the trade deadline is in March, but teams can make deals any time before then, and this season, it appears as though most teams will look to get the ball rolling early.
Toronto Maple Leafs keep an eye on the Olympics
While speaking to Ottawa Senators reporter Bruce Garrioch, NHL insider Nick Kypreos revealed that teams around the league want to get their trades in before Christmas.
Why? Well, it's because the Olympics are being seen as a huge hurdle. Instead of making deals after the Games, they would prefer to do so before.
I do believe that with the Olympics, teams are starting to really dig down deep on changing the look of their team now even before Christmas, I think we're gonna see some moves before Christmas.
This makes a ton of sense, and the Maple Leafs are one of the teams that would put themselves in the camp of those trying to get something done early.
The faster the team improves, the quicker they are able to finally climb the Eastern Conference. Or, Treliving could decide to sell and go for an off-season re-tool. Only time will tell which one he chooses.
