Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson got injured against the Colorado Avalanche, and now, his injury designation is officially known.
The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Colorado Avalanche on Monday by a score of 4-3. It was a sensational game for the Leafs, but it came at a cost.
Nick Robertson got a slap shot to the foot, and it forced him to exit the game. After the match, Robertson was seen walking around in good spirits.
Unfortunately, this is not going to be enough for the forward to get back into the lineup tonight against the Utah Mammoth.
Instead, Robertson is out tonight, and Calle Jarnkrok is going to replace him. Robertson is now considered to be day-to-day.
Robertson has been playing some inspired hockey as of late, so this injury is absolutely going to be seen as a huge disappointment for the fans.
He is a young player who is getting a lot better, and the Leafs could have absolutely used him in the lineup of tonight's game.
Maple Leafs are on a roll
Despite this injury, the Leafs will attempt to extend their point streak up to 11 games. They are 8-0-2 in their last 10, which has put them in the Wild Card race.
In fact, they have the first Wild Card spot, which is an extremely advantageous place to be right now, as they would avoid the conference's best team.
If they continue to play like this, there is a good chance the Leafs end up in the top three of the Atlantic Division by the Olympic break.
It will be an uphill battle, but the Leafs have shown some tremendous resolve throughout all of this.
