Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll has been trying his best to keep his team together, although Craig Berube has gotten in the way of that mission.
On Saturday night, Leafs goalie Joseph Woll was pulled after allowing four goals on 25 shots against the Montreal Canadiens. The four goals were not his fault, but the team needed a wake-up call.
Now, Woll is projected to play on Wednesday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets, but the sting of Saturday's game is still very much on his mind.
Joseph Woll is angry with Craig Berube
While speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Berube admitted that his goaltender is angry at him right now, although the head coach is happy to see the fire.
He was so pissed off at me for pulling him the other night. But I like that. And, you know, he wanted to be in there and fight, and that's good.
It is to see why Woll might be frustrated. He did nothing wrong against the Canadiens and had it not been for his performance, the score would have been a whole lot worse.
Joseph Woll's stats are holding the Leafs together
In four starts this season, Joseph Woll has a record of 1-2-1, a goals-against average of 3.27, and a save percentage of .905.
Of course, getting pulled early when you allow four goals is going to bring down your statistics quite a bit. Prior to Saturday's game, he had a save percentage of .923.
With Anthony Stolarz out of the lineup, the Leafs will be relying on Woll to get the team some big time results. It's not going to be easy, but with the Leafs in last place in the Eastern Conference, it's either sink or swim.
