Paul Bissonnette has been electric for the NHL on TNT, and a new career development spells positive news for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Toronto Maple Leafs fans know Paul Bissonnette quite well, as the former NHL enforcer turned broadcaster has become a huge homer for the franchise.
This is great representation for the franchise when you consider how most American broadcasters stick their noses up at Canadian teams.
With Bissonnette on the airwaves for NHL on TNT, the Leafs have gotten their flowers, and while the Leafs have let Bissonnette down, he still rides for them.
It has been fun to watch, even if there are some fans out there who feel as though Bissonnette's lack of objectivity can be cringeworthy at times.
Paul Bissonnette and TNT re-up
Bissonnette's contract with TNT was about to expire, and many were wondering whether or not the network would be eager to bring him back.
Today, it was announced that the personality has been signed to a multi-year deal, and it comes with a brand new opportunity.
Simply, Bissonnette is now going to be part of the actual hockey broadcasts as a colour commentator of sorts. He will start this as soon as this week.
For the Toronto Maple Leafs, this is a good thing. Why? Because it means even more Maple Leafs representation in the American market.
This is growing the game in a real, tangible way, and the fans are certainly going to be interested to see more of Bissonnette going forward.
We wish the broadcaster the best of luck over the course of his new contract.
