Former Colorado Avalanche draft pick admits he was bullied off social media by Avalanche fans

A familiar face was visiting the Ball Arena on Tuesday night. Tyson Jost and his Minnesota Wild took on the Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche. Jost was drafted 10th overall by Colorado in 2016 and became a mainstay on the NHL roster, until he was traded to Minnesota for Nico Sturm in March only three months before his friends and teammates lifted the cup.

The Wild got the win 5-2 and Jost contributed two goals.

Jost admitted that he suffered what he called some «dark days,» as he saw his former teammates on the Colorado Avalanche lift the Stanley Cup just a few months after he was traded. After the championship celebrations, Jost reportedly received a lot of hateful messages from Colorado fans, expressing that they would not have won the Cup if he was still on the team.




The Jost trade to Minnesota, was a financial one for Colorado. It cleared about $1.3 million off the books for the Avalanche.

The Avs were able to then sign big forward acquisition Artturi Lehkonen, who proved vital during the cup run (14 points, 4 game winning goals), but it was a big emotional loss for Jost.


Alex Newhook, who played with Jost for the end of the 2021 season and nearly the entire 2021-22 season, said the two became very close over a year.


The 24 year old contributed 2 goals and 6 points in 21 games in the regular season for the Wild. In 6 playoffs games he went pointless. In the preseason he has been on fire with 2 goals and 5 points in the 2 games. Hopefully he can translate that into a big season for Minny.
