The Toronto Maple Leafs are on the wrong end of another injury, as it was announced minutes before the Las Vegas Golden Knights game that a defenseman would be out.
This has not been a good season for the Toronto Maple Leafs when it comes to injuries and their defensive core.
Throughout the season, the team has seen guys like Jake McCabe, Chris Tanev, Brandon Carlo, and Oliver Ekman-Larsson miss time with injuries.
Overall, it has been difficult for the team to navigate, especially when they are already playing in a hole from their poor showing in the early part of the year.

Having said that, things got worse tonight just minutes before the team's game against the Las Vegas Golden Knights, as they put out a statement about Simon Benoit.
Simon Benoit is day-to-day for the Maple Leafs
Despite attending the team's morning skate on Thursday, it was revealed that Simon Benoit would not be in the lineup against the Golden Knights.
To add insult to injury, the defenseman would be day-to-day, which, as we know, has been a pretty bad omen for the Maple Leafs throughout this season.
In the middle of the third period, the Toronto Maple Leafs are defeating the Las Vegas Golden Knights by a score of 4-3, but we will see if it holds.
This remains an extremely important stretch for the Leafs, who are trying to hold on to one of the two Wild Card spots in the Eastern Conference.
Without Simon Benoit, it will be that much more difficult. As it stands, he is being replaced by Philippe Myers, who has had a tough season.
Only time will tell whether or not Benoit can come back soon, and have a relatively healthy final stretch of the season.
