St. Louis Blues captain Brayden Schenn was on the Toronto Maple Leafs' radar last season, but in the end, the center chose not to go anywhere.

If you remember, last season, the Toronto Maple Leafs needed a center at the trade deadline, and they were willing to do anything to acquire one.
In the end, they ended up with Scott Laughton and paid a bit too much for him. However, their main target was actually Brayden Schenn of the St. Louis Blues.
Yesterday, we reported on how the Blues wanted the Leafs to give up Easton Cowan for Schenn, which would have been an absolute disaster for the team.
Now, it is being reported that the Blue wanted a lot more than that, and at the end of the day, none of it would have actually mattered.

Brayden Schenn wanted to play with Luke Schenn

According to Elliotte Friedman of 32 Thoughts, the Blues also wanted Ben Danford and a draft pick. Unfortunately, for the Leafs, Schenn didn't want to be traded anyway.
He was only willing to move if the Leafs acquired Luke Schenn. Of course, Luke is Brayden's brother and used to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
This season, there is a chance that Brayden Schenn is in play, although it is highly unlikely that he is still on the Maple Leafs' radar at this point.

Ultimately, the Maple Leafs need a winger, and they need a defenseman. Brayden Schenn doesn't fit any of those attributes.
Meanwhile, Easton Cowan scored the game-winning goal for the Maple Leafs on Thursday, and Leafs fandom is singing his praises.
At the end of the day, the Leafs made the right choice, as they are keeping their future intact.
