It looks like there might be a winner in the John Tortorella sweepstakes: the Philadelphia Flyers. At least according to John Buccigross.

It looks like Chuck Fletcher has decided to wager the remainder of his time in Philadelphia on the veteran coach.

If this is true, it would mean Tortorella was chosen out of Rick Tocchet, Barry Trotz, and Paul Maurice as the new coach of the Flyers. The benefits of a Flyers team with Tortorella will be accountability and discipline.

So, for a team that Mike Yeo and Alan Vigneault failed to win anything with, it looks like Tortorella may at least be able to take them into the first round in 2 years if Fletcher doesn't screw up the next draft and trade deadline.

At his last stop, the Blue Jackets yielded the NHL's 11th-fewest goals per game at 2.75 over his parts of six seasons. Columbus also had a top-10 penalty kill in that span at 81.2 percent.

Cam Atkinson will be reunited with Tortorella as well, so the benefit of familiarity for him will be there, he will help give Tortorella credibility with younger players, as Atkinson was always a leader in Columbus.

Can Tortorella protect his winning record is the question? Will the young players buy in? Are questions worth asking, especially with how quick he wears out his welcome.

With the Stanley Cup Finals set to start in less than two weeks it will be interesting to see if Buccigross is correct or just throwing names out there.
